Vrrooom: Here Comes Pure Evel On Wheels!

by TJ Norris

IN EVEL WE TRUST Robert Craig "Evel" Knievel reigned atop his badass wild Harley circa the Bicentennial years and wore those colors with high pride as he shot into the sky over automobiles, buses and canyons -- even earning the Guinness World Record for most broken bones in a lifetime. Not sure I'd want to follow in those shadows, but the man better known as Evel Knievel was every kids hero back in the day. The "American Daredevil" always decked out in bold leather jumpsuits often tried to top his own crazy motorcycle records! The man who inspired the Six Flags coaster in Vegas under his name, and even an Rock Opera from the early Oughts based on his life.

"Dying is a part of living and none of us is going to get out of here alive..." - Evel Knievel

Though, we are here to take a closer look at Figures Toy Co.'s latest version of the man behind the myth, in 8" form (the company also makes a 12" as well!). Oh, yes, he's now an official action figure and comes in two variations (white or blue jumpsuit). Either come with a small cardboard mini stage, a gold cane and helmet (as separate accessories). In our review of the figure we find him to be a somewhat interesting likeness especially expression-wise and through the brow, though I only wish he had that wild mane of legendary 70's hair, along with the thick two-tone sideburns and chest hair to match). Those are absent here, but you can compare/contrast for yourself on the cardboard insert! The man emanates the glory of a by-gone era of post Moonwalking on Earth. The sculpt is nicely detailed. His posing is slightly limited but what we want mostly is his signature bike. It's really nice to see a stab at getting the helmet somewhat authentic in style, and the white boots are priceless. Sporting his All-American colors in red, white & blue complete with a cape. These come with a mini graphic poster and most exciting for those who like to keep their collection clean and pristine, a resealable and sturdy plastic clamshell that pretty much stands up on its own! If you love the era of change, psychedelia and the Tall Ships - this should get top billing. We give it 3.5 outta 5 stars (mainly cuz we love wild hair)!
