Here in a FLASH

by Dan Reynolds

From the title I'm sure you've guessed the topic of my newest article. If not, don't worry I'll explain shortly. So, many of you are geeks like myself and probably keep up with nerd-tastic shows like Gotham, Arrow, and Big Bang Theory. I can't blame you, my DVR records all of those shows as well, but there's a new show on the CW that is quickly (like a human blur) gaining a lot of attention. Still haven't guessed it?

Let me give you one more hint the lead character goes by the name of Barry Allen. Alright, alright it's The Flash! After a brief appearance during the second season of Arrow the fastest man alive got his own show on Tuesday nights. What perfect timing for an article right? Although I love the show, I love my Flash collectibles as well. Recently, as many of you may know, Flash has gone through several contemporary variations. I want to spotlight a few of them and give you some little geek trivia knowledge along the way. Let's get started!

First let's start with the most recent SDCC Fugitive Toys White Lantern Flash Funko Pop! version of your favorite lightning fast friend. This was released in very limited supplies earlier this year. There were two versions: the standard and GITD figure. DC Classics also made a stunning 7" White Lantern Flash action figure which is available through Entertainment Earth. So here's some geek trivia for you:

Q: What villian did White Lantern Flash and Hal Jordan team-up to defeat?

A: Nekron

Probably one of my favorite variations of The Flash is the 2014 Wonder Con/Fugitive Toys exclusive. Featuring both a standard and metallic version. This version truely embodies what the Blue Lantern Corps stands for, hope.

Whether you're hoping to get one or just smile when you see this one, Funko did a really great job with this figure. Once again DC did make a variation of Blue Lantern Flash as well it's just a little more serious in my opinion. Second piece of fast flash trivia:

Q: What was the name of the Blue Lantern Flash that helped protect earth from the Black Lantern Corps?

A: Barry Allen

The third and final variation I want to cover in this article is The Black Flash. While this version of the Flash is often a sign of the death of a speedster he is the most appropriate Flash to celebrate this month. My favorite Black Flash figure has to be the DC Direct Blackest Night: Series 8: Black Lantern Black Flash Action Figure. It's highly detailed and a more realistic version of the character than it's commonly sought after Funko peer. So here comes your final trivia question...

Q: How did Wally West beat the black flash? A: Raced him to the end of time.
