IN FUNKO POP NEWS: Reports have come in that there is going to be another brand-new Batman being released, the first hint came from Gemini Collectibles who put the proto on eBay. So far the bidding is starting to get a bit crazy, the auction is around 1000 dollars within the first 24 hours!
Batman protos and DC Universe pieces, in general, seem to be the most desirable pieces in the Funko market, with Aquaman, Hawkman, Arrow, Shazam, Riddler, Two-Face and Penguin being retired, they are highly sought after. To date, this has been the highest priced (by bid) prototype, the second, recently sold at auction, was a Loki proto (with a helmet) that sold for around $900.
With reports of this proto coming out, I for one am very excited to see what the finished product will look like. When it comes to Funko who knows what awesome Batman they will come out with next. The Batman pop was the first in the series of DC Pop! figures, and is also the most famous DC comic book character, with so many different spin-off titles, which Funko has started to make figures for as well. Recently they released a White Lantern series which included Superman, the Flash, Batman and glow in the dark versions of all three, and before that they did Earth 2 Batman, as a Hot Topic exclusive.
Batman is popular, for sure, and his visage has launched very sought after figures by many toymakers. One of rarest Batmen from Funko is the SDCC 2010 clamshell blue metallic variant, and the NYCC Flashpoint Batman which runs for around $500. So far there have been a total of 18 different Batmen made (excluding the two bobble head Target exclusives) this Joker Batman brings that total to 19!
Exactly what kind of Pop! will this Batman be? Will it be a Hot Topic exclusive, at Comic Con, or maybe another retail store exclusive? Hopefully we will find out very soon about this exciting news. We will update you as we know more, stay tuned.....
