Hunters & Collectors: Survey Says!

Welcome back everyone, this week I will be compiling and analyzing the current results of the Hunters and Collectors survey which is still open, here, for responses!
Right off the bat, we ask, “What is the primary makeup of your collection?” Clearly, and (to myself not surprisingly) Action Figures reigns supreme, at 51% with Pops and Vinyls second behind at 38%. Now, granted our survey did not consists of thousands of participants, but I was actually very surprised how few of percent the 1/6 Scale Figures (24%) and Comic Books (22%) turned out.

Continuing with the surprises, Question #3 asked “Which companies do you collect?” with 51% belonging to Funko. I have seen Funko growing tremendously over the years, both in their lines of figures and collectibles but also in their collector base as well. I guess it would make sense as even if you have just one or two Funkos, you “qualify” to mark Funko as an answer! Hell, even for myself, the only reason I bought my first Funko POP! Was to get it signed by Michael Rooker (it was the Merle Dixon POP! from The Walking Dead). Not surprisingly, Hasbro followed behind Funko at 46%, with Sideshow Collectibles at 37% and Hot Toys at 33%. Yet again with the surprises, NECA only constituted just under 26% of the vote! Granted their largest lines are Pacific Rim, Predator, and Terminator, which might mean not as many people enjoy those few lines? Or just the figures themselves?

Moving onto Question #4, the era most collected from is the 2000s, followed by the 90s, 80s, and 70s. The 70s definitely had phenomenal figures which now, have become the holy grails of vintage collectors.

Of course, what drives collectors is either character-based or theme/film/show-based. But, there is also a large drive and closeness with the quality and details, because, of course, you don’t want to spend your money on something with subpar quality and details!

Over the years as online retailers have become better suited to supply us collectors with our needs, it is definitely not a surprise to see 98% of the amount of purchases being online, but also 75% of them in stores. Personally, I have had better luck and prices or deals at conventions, and surprised by the low 22% turnout.

And finally, the way collectors keep their items is the usual shelves, detolfs, curios, etc. Those who keep them loose is slightly above those who keep items in package, from 40% to 35%.

Thanks everyone who participated and thank you all for reading! Remember to click on the survey link to participate if you have not already and continue reading through GoFigure News!
