Who Ya Gonna Call? Stay-Puft!

He ain't afraid of no ghosts!

It was a long time coming but I have personally been super-excited about this particular figure, er, bank, for nearly six months....waiting, anticipating. As Ghostbusters celebrated its pivotal 30th Anniverary in 2014 and we await the all-female cast next wave in a years time....we got word that Diamond Select Toys was going to bring (said) bank - and they delivered. Not just this, but a half-dozen banks in total + a light-up statue. So we've seen this guy in exploding, glowing, evil, happy forms...and now we get the downright Toasted Angry Burnt Stay Puft Bank!

As you can see from all angles in the video the sculpt is so spot-on, and especially in this 11-inch version - others they have made, but not in this style, size upwardly to 24" tall. He comes in a simple plastic bag, so for those who love their pristine collections all boxy, this is probably going to be something you will want to display simply and without packaging.

Funny as it may be, when I attempted to pull this review together we had another unusually rainy day here in Dallas, and the plastic cover protected this lil' guy, which we will just call rain-resistant for review sake ;) Taking a closer look at his face you can clearly see they got the expression of the character right - as if he just popped right off the screen and on to your desk, shelf or other nook-like area where your spare change might be lingering....

With so much anticipation you might think any slight 'issue' could become a criticism...but it's hard to find anything to knock here - he's for anyone who loves the movie, crazy characters and maybe even s'mores? I love that his head is almost the size of an actual jumbo marshmallow - so fitting. Speaking of fitting - take a look at his profile:

Stay-Puft is perfectly plump, and his scorch marks are interesting depending on what angle you view him from, they have a near dimensional feel, and they are likely labels rather than paint, though they have disguised them well. The only slight off thing is the actual placement of the scorches - on mine the one on the belly could have been slightly off center so conceptually here it seems like something is burning in his belly. It's sort of funny. The next stage would be a partially melted, or mid-melting Stay-Puft (hmmmm?). The paint is nicely detailed, the face, hat band and sailor-like do-hickey around his neck. And the slightest ice blue accents give him a sense of shape and transformation.

The coinslot is situated on his collar rather than his head or body, so that was a smart design choice, and let's you appreciate this as a figure as much as you might for its practical use. There is no articulation except where the head pops off (perfectly cleanly) you can adjust his head to right/left a bit. We are impressed with this, our first bank review, of this battle-damaged rotund figure. Here he is raving in the rain as the sun slightly peaks back. We love it, three thumbs way up! Just get it.
