Mind Of A Toy Man: The Underbelly

The vast array of villains associated with Batman have always had a flare to them unlike any others. The scum of Gotham City maintain an eclectic fusion of skill and attributes with an underlying theme of the more dangerous stimuli in life such as fringe science and gambling. Top shelf wackos like psychotic circus performers and bi-polar litigators always lead the charge of mayhem in Gotham's underworld.

My focus for today is the Gotham City criminals of Mattel's DC Multiverse action figures. Considered as a part of the "Matty Collector" branch of Mattel, the DC multiverse toy line specializes in movie and video game adaptations leaving the illustrated and animated versions to Total Heroes and other collection titles. This particular assortment of DC characters can be found regularly at most major chain department and toy stores along with small retailers too.

With incredible detail and likeness to the actors and digital versions, these figures have excellent articulation and coloring. As DC continues to create more Batman games and movies, the DC Multiverse toy line will expand as well. Even if your not versed in the video games, this is still a great selection to start buying for any DC or Batman fan. The multiverse toy line has been featured in several toy fairs and conventions in 2014 and 2015.

At this point in the DC Universe, many newer fans view the origins of some villains differently than older fans but at the end of the day, just about any DC criminal is an enemy of the Dark Knight and his assistants. Thanks to titles such as the various Justice Leagues, several guns for hire, foreign assassins and international mobsters have joined the long list of career criminals forever making Batman's job more and more complicated as time goes on. It's actually very rare when the caped crusader hasn't crossed paths or investigated a villain in the database. However, no matter how well traveled Batman may be, some adversaries will always be a little more localized to Gotham than others.

Of course, there's the select few that are always in the spot light, but to a true hardcore Batman fan, the list of villains between all the 75+ years of comics and cartoons alone seems endless. Mystic beings, immortal samurais and secret society members are just a few of the types of characters never really shown on the silver screen, but have deep imbedded roots within the other forms of media available.

Gotham City is the type of place that will never be in short supply of criminals, terrorist and murderers. From Bruce Wayne to Richard Grayson and then to Terry McGinnis, the job and role of Batman protecting Gotham is growing evermore complex as time goes on. That said, I hope Mattel has no plans of discontinuing this toy line for a very long time. The toy line has also begun to produce small play sets, nothing too serious yet but maybe there's a Batcave or Arkham wing in the plans too somewhere down the line! I expect to see several additions in the future to this collection and you should as well. I hope I speak to every Batman fan out there by suggesting this collection, it is a very great assortment of characters with tons of room for expansion.

Keep collecting,

the ToyMan
