I have always been a fan of old school cartoons especially Scooby Doo and the gang. Scooby Doo has been around for quite a long time 46 years to be exact with the first episode airing in 1969. Scooby Doo, Where Are You, the original series produced by Hanna Barbera Productions was a big hit when it hit TV screens. It aired up until 1976 and was taken of the air by CBS. ABC decided to pick up the show and it was run until 1986.
Due to the success of the original series Hanna-Barbera and new owners of the franchise Warner Brothers Animation have produced many different animated spinoffs, reboots, and other related works including TV specials, direct to video films, and two full length feature films also produced by Warner Brothers. A few versions of Scooby Doo focused on the show’s supernatural theme and included new characters such as Scrappy Doo and Dyno-Mutt instead of the regular crew. Heck at one time Batman and the Harlem Globe Trotters even made cameo appearances in episodes.
I was really into A Pup Named Scooby Doo as a kid it first was aired in 1988 and ran until 1991. This series focused on Scooby and the gang as kids. My favorite characters where Shaggy, Velma and of course Scooby. There was another reason I watched the show though and that was to see Fred always accuse the character Red Herring for being the villain up to no good to only find out he never was involved. I would laugh into tears sometimes at how dumb Fred was in this show. Scooby and the gang recently have been brought back and have been well received by the new generation of cartoon junkies. Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated is the most recent installment in the Scooby Doo series.

It made its debut on Cartoon Network in 2010 and ended in 2013 featuring a new story and new animation that was just plain awesome in my book I still watch the re-runs. Well now Cartoon Network is planning to release a new spin off series this year entitled Be Cool Scooby Doo.

To celebrate the new series Lego is releasing a bunch of new Scooby Doo mini-figure and construction building sets including the Haunted Mansion and the Mystery Machine, which they showcased at the NY 2015 Toy Fair. I am looking forward to seeing what new crazy things Scooby and the gang will get into now especially since high school is over and this is their last summer to live it up! Guess we all will have to stay toon’d to find out.
