It's Hooch Time: Scott Tolleson's Bitta Critta

The bad baby w/bubbly. Yes indeed it's the Bitta Critta from the imaginative world of Scott Tolleson. At first glance I was a bit skeptical, until I shucked this fromt he lil window faced cube box and - voila - beauty to behold.

The paint application is a mix of genuine looking matte finish and vivid lush tones bringing out a powerful retro, almost ceramic-like quality. But this mischievous guy is a mostly toothless wonder. Is he dressed like a bunny or a monster - you decide! Along with his "hooch" accessory which dovetailed into his hand nicely. And, yes this figure is articulated too, at the arms and the head/neck. Have a look at the back to get a full detail of how deeply crafted the sculpt is on this figure:

The patches, the cinches, those bunny ears and the pom-pom tail...so many details, so little time. This figure is a true work of art without any real flaws. The figure's squatness and harkening back to the early days of animation triggers some weird memories, better left unsaid. And the fact this baby's got booze makes this a trip and a 1/2. The "giftwrap" packaging was decent, but nothing too flashy - does the boy live in the box?

The production by 3D Retro is top notch here and our rating....

  • Sculpt: 10/10

  • Paint: 9.5/10

  • Design/Packaging: 7.5/10

One of the aspects this figure jumps out from others out there is it is a long-lost and distant relative of the hummel, it has that old world German patina (ie: a lil' dirtiness goes a long way). This was originally released in 2013, though there are still a few floating out there.

Bitta Critta has someone looking over his shoulder now (sold separately, from Funko and World of Warcraft). This limited edition figure stands 5" tall, and a glow-in-the-dark version known as 'MoonShine' can be found with a little searching. Clean, clever design that goes the extra mile. Three thumbs way up!
