Holy Bonne Anniversaire Batfriends!
Indeed this has been, and continues to be even a full year into it, a grande celebration in the name of the king of superheroes, Batman. He's gone by many a name: the Caped Crusader, Dark Knight - but The Batman reigns supreme to his arch enemies everywhere. And upon such an occasion you'd only expect to see wonderful interpretations of the greatness that is Bruce Wayne masked for the masses. Born in 1939 from the creative mind of Mr. Bob Kane (and Bill Finger), Detective Comics would never be the same.
To help celebrate DC Collectibles has released two Batman 75th Anniversary Action Figure Collector 4-Pack Sets. And they are both simply voluptuous in their shiny darkness. For the set we are looking at the set includes four figures including Batman's very first appearence (Bob Kane), New Frontier Batman (Darwyn Cooke), Batman: Hush (Jim Lee) and Batman: Arkham Origins (WBIE).
The large box includes four black tin inner container boxes for each figure, each emblazoned with the "75" logo. Each figure measures 6.5" to 7" each. The inside top of the box includes a grey foam panel to protect them in transit - and overall this is quite weighty - so depending on where this is purchased, the cost can vary. This was purchased from Amazon, and I am pleased to say when I got it shipping was free! These have been selling out - nudge.
Surprisingly this is not called a "Deluxe" set for sales purposes, but I will impose that here as this is truly a "collectors' collector's" type of format. The figures all come with a black-on-black round base with the same "75" logo. The figure include no additional accessories. Standard DC Collectibles articulation, nothing new. The capes are made of a soft rubbery material and the figures are pretty much black, gray with the yellow utility belt. Check them out unboxed.
Of the four the Arkham Origins is the most detailed in sculpt and paint, and the "First Appearence" is so true to the original, great looking, classic - with a slit cape at rear. New Frontier Batman has a tough geometric jawline. Lastly, Hush Batman is lean and muscular with thicker, more army-style boot.
If you are ga-ga for Gotham you need this set. Period.
