The LEGO Group, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games have teamed up to create an all new experience in video game and Lego building. The new concept of LEGO Dimensions™ breaks the rules of traditional gaming to merge physical Lego building with interactive game play. Officially launching September 27, 2015, with Starter Kit 71171 priced at $99.99, it is now available for pre-order from various retailers. LEGO Dimensions™ video game will be available on PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles.
How awesome is it going to be? For the first time in any Lego video game, you can have your Lego characters, from DC Comics, Lord of the Rings and The LEGO Movie team up with each other battling in other worlds besides their own. Bravely jumping from world to world through a powerful vortex on a quest to defeat the evil Lord Vortech and save LEGO humanity. The starter pack will include a game portal, which allows for special LEGO minifigures and other LEGO accessories to be transported into the video game, bricks to build the LEGO Gateway, three Minifigures, including Batman, Wyldstyle, and Gandalf, plus the Batmobile.
I never thought it would be possible to see your favorite LEGO characters in a game together, using vehicles and weapons like never before. The Wizard of Oz's Wicked Witch driving the DeLorean from Back to the Future, LEGO Movie Benny, Ninjago Nya, DC Cyborg use a Axe Chariot from Lord of the Rings and Marty McFly. Break the Rules! By purchasing expansion packs, you can bring up to 7 characters, vehicles, and weapons all at once by sending them through the Lego Gateway to create the craziest, exciting and action-packed game in its genre. You can take on the adventure solo or have a friend join in with co-operative play
Expansion Packs will be available in three types. Level Packs will include one Minifigure, two vehicles, and one new level will cost $29.99 USD. Team Packs include two Minifigures and two vehicles at a cost of $24.99 USD. Fun Packs include one Minifigure and one vehicle will cost $14.99 USD. Packs planned for release in 2015 include: Back to the Future Level Pack, a Ninjago Team Pack, three Ninjago Fun Packs, two DC Comics Fun Packs, three Lord of the Rings Fun Packs, four LEGO Movie Fun Packs and a Wizard of Oz Fun Pack. No compatibility chart is necessary. LEGO Toy Pad, LEGO Gateway and the video game found in the initial Starter Pack will offer endless opportunities to customize a players experience for years to come. Future expansion purchases will continue to work. Once it finally runs through its time. You will have additional LEGO Minifigures and accessories to add to your collection, because the LEGO is removable.
