THIS JUST IN: A new arrival from our friends at Tenacious Toys. Today we are looking at TEQUILA, an incredibly unique and detailed mash-up by the ingenious minds at Muttpop (LA, Paris). This 8" vinyl figure comes in a few colorways (solid black, Hulk-green/purple and others) - though we are looking more closely at the B/W "Tequila Classico" version. If you look around you will spy that he also comes in a smaller 2" size as well and has been around the block for a few years - though he's limited to only 500 pieces - and they are likely running out. Let's have a closer look....
Adorably viscious or verse vica, this guy is ripped and thick and maybe even fifty shades of grey. That said, Tequila is nicely packaged with a layer of plastic under the removable cape (as shown) and then bubble wrapped inside the box - an extra step to protect a really nice collectable here. The other colorways make him look more vibrant and hero like, and despite the physique I kinda like that in this version he looks more like a vagabond viking than testosterone macho libre. And the sculpt is just flawless as created by Jerry Frissen and Gobi. Here are some details:
LOOK @ THOSE GUNS!: I love the way his skull/facecap is spiked - either by adornment or as if his hair shooting up in lil' cones through the "fabric". And his head turns to and fro, so you can pose him to that extent. The missing tooth is priceless - and, well, he is a prize fighter, no? And part ghetto luchador, part muscleman Hulk - and all squat adorableness with a complex. Take a look at the comic addition to the back of his cape!
The sculpt is dead-on, really brings this character to life. the patches and rippled musculature, square head, cactua imprint, and perfectly fitting cape, sandals, and pencil stache teal the show. The beady eyes and expression harken back to Looney Tunes. Nothing was overlooked in the creation of this pretty much perfectly crafted piece.
Curious lil' guy. Standing 8" tall he actually will command a spot on your shelf of classic collectibles!
