Bwaaaa-haaa-haaaa!

Here at the GOFN office we are opening our first Horror Block from our Northern Nerd Block neighbors and it's a heavy one. If you are unfamiliar with this monthly subscription have a look-see here. One exciting new development is they are offering the ability for their subscribers to switch from one of their boxes to another (ie: switch from Classic to Horror, or switch from Arcade to Classic...etc.). This is the May edition and it is chock-full of chilly-ish content. First here's a video we just made that will show you the contents in a classic unboxing style:

As you can see for $13.99-19.99 there's a lot inside this type of mystery box. Nerd Block has certainly been one of the most consistent boxes in its class since its inception over a year ago, one of the first and still one of the best. That said, let's have a look at this month's Horror Block, item by item......

First up is the Funko Pop! vinyl figure of the Will Graham character from the hit television show Hannibal. There were four from the series that were possible in the box - and this is the one if I had a checkbox to tic I would have clicked. No need, he arrived, and he's super cool. I really appreciate the attention to detail and the "accessory" (his clear mask/muzzle). Funko sometimes adds these lil' extras that separate them from other "common Pop!s" - and his aeyes, like many in the entire line, are perfectly beady for this creepy little guy. I'm going to add him alongside Pennywise and a GITD Deadite in my stacks.

I think a copy of Rue Morgue Magazine comes with each Horror Block, at least the few unboxings I've watched have included them. This is the June issue with The Human Centipede III on the cover! Since 1997 they've been one of the most focal horror mags. It's glossy, not "too" gorey and gives you an insider look at the industry behind the knife, saw and other close encounters of the bloody kind.

Celebrating 60 years is the classic Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954). Horror Block celebrates with this black and white mini poster/postcard print (top). One of the classic original posters (btm).

From subsidiary company Shirt Punch (check them out for limited time custom t's) comes this tough and rugged black cotton t-shirt, one of the hinted at items from the now closed franchise, Silent Hill. Personally I have not seen the 2006 psychological thriller flick, but it's got an amazingly zany following. The print is nice, though its not too clever a design, though it will be great for the rabid fans.

Horror Block's very own Short Film Festival 2015 on DVD, in association with Rue Morgue. Click the link for more screams and bad dreams! I believe this is their premiere event of this kind. I have yet to crack the plastic, I'm too afraid......

And finally, the item I was definitely the most impressed with also comes published by Rue Morgue, an integral partnership here. This is the softcover Weird Stats & Morbid Facts which was compiled and edited by Monica S. Kuebler whose Death of Cool blog is definitely worth a twice over perusal! This 130 page publication is fueled by juicy tidbits of trivia about any/everything you might have not imagined within the eerie world of the horror genre. Did you know that the working title of David Cronenberg's film Shivers was originally "Orgy of the Blood Parasites"? Hmmmm, not as stylish as he is.

GOFN Rating: 8.5/10 (for value and content)
