Heroine: Villains Willow Bust

My new article this week is about this amazing Willow bust from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, entitled "Villains" Willow (for obvious reasons). I am a huge collector for Buffy and Angel things and this was one of those few pieces I didn't know about before buying it. Based on the end of season 6 where, after Warren Mears accidentally shoots and kills Willow's partner Tara, she loses it completely and begins to turn completely dark. Willow had already been fighting a magic addiction but after Tara's death, she gives herself over to the dark magic in the depth of her rage and despair.

The scene that this bust was based on shows Willow just after breaking into the Magic Box and attacking her friends, she absorbs every piece of powerful magic she can get her hands on from all of the dangerous books in the shop. This shows her in the middle of absorbing the power; her hair starting to turn black, her eyes starting to darken, the script running over her face and Tara's drying blood splashed over her body. The bust shows her hip-high in books.

This bust, cast in resin, stands approx. 6" tall and was produced by Gentle Giant. I believe this is one of the rarer busts for collectors and, as I've said, it wasn't easy for me to get hold of. The season 6 finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was one of the highest rated episodes of the show and with good reason. Willow started out as a kind-hearted, math and computer geek at Sunnydale High, advising Buffy (along with Giles) of the dangers of her often rash choices. From this, she began to blossom into a powerful Wicca/witch, hooking up with Tara and increasing her magical potential.
