Sunday Bloody Funday: SDCC A Toy Collector’s Dream

#SDCC2015: Looks like it’s getting close to the greatest time of year for toys. I’m not talking about Christmas or New York Toy Fair, I’m talking about San Diego Comic-Con. SDCC is almost upon us and runs from July 9-12th, 2015 with a preview night on July 8th. Over the years toy companies have released exclusives for the largest Con in the world that have gone on to become some of the most sought after toys and this year is no different. I’m going to be taking a look at some of the horror toys that are offered this year at Comic-Con. I’m sure a few will become highly desirable on the secondary market. If you’re lucky enough to attend this year's festivities then use this as a cheat sheet for booths that you need to go to.

First up is Funko with its Pop! figure vinyl line and ReAction figures. Funko this year has been slowly releasing what exclusives they will offer at Comic-Con. I would say Funko hands down has the most exclusives of any company there this year. They are only half way through their reveals and they have over 40 exclusives. The two that I want to take a look at are from their Pop! Vinyl line and ReAction. The Pop! Vinyl offerings this year are Jason Unmasked and Twisty the Clown from American Horror Story.

Both are pretty much plastic statues but they look cool and have a huge following of collectors. The second is more up my lane, the ReAction line Jaws - Bruce the shark with Quint in his mouth from the final battle scenes. This exclusive differs from the regular release because it has blood splatter and damage from Quint. It also has Quint packaged with him in the shark’s mouth. This is on my must have from the convention. These will be available at their booth during the con until they sell out. Funko also has another exclusive that is for Toy Tokyo at Comic-Con. They will also be offering a Pop! Vinyl and a ReAction figure. Theirs are the same figure, Wolfman, the only twist is that they are both flocked to give them a real hair feeling.

Next Up is Bif Bang Pow! at the Entertainment Earth booth. They will be offering an assortment of action figures based on the Showtime hit show Penny Dreadful. There have been 5 figures revealed so far and they are Vanessa Ives, Ethan Chandler, Sir Malcolm, Dr. Frankenstein, and Frankenstein’s monster. Each figure stands 6 inches tall and comes with multiple accessories. These would make a great addition to any fan of the shows collection.

Finally last but certainly not least is NECA. NECA is offering probably the best exclusive hands down at Comic-Con for horror fans. They are offering in their retro 8” line, a two pack of Pamela Voorhees and younger Jason. This two pack represents them as they appeared in Friday the 13th Part 1 and captures the likeness of each character perfectly. This 2 pack will be available at their booth at Comic-Con and is likely to sell out very quickly from the buzz in the horror action figure collecting circles. This 2 pack is by far the best exclusive at the con to me and the one that is a must have for me.

Well, hope this checklist of sorts has given you some ideas of what to pick up from San Diego Comic-Con this year and keep watching the manufacturer’s pages to see any last minute updates to their exclusive line ups. See you in two weeks right after Comic-Con.
