Sunday Bloody Funday: NECA Leatherface Review

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Formal Dinner Party Edition

It’s that time again for another horror figure review. To celebrate GOFN's Flashback: Retro Week - I will be reviewing the NECA's retro Texas Chainsaw Massacre 8” Leatherface. Leatherface comes to us this time in his formal dinner wear unlike his previous version in his “work” clothes. Let’s dive right in to this review and get started.

NECA seems to keep raising the bar with these 8” figures and get better and better with each new release. The figure is packaged in his usual clam shell type case with the artwork card behind him. Leatherface arrives with his signature chainsaw and hammer. The figure itself has 11 points of articulation so that he can take on many different poses. Even his swinging chainsaw dance at the end of the first movie. The joints on mine are nice and tight so that it can stand without any assistance which is great for displaying outside the package. The figure is outfitted in a black suit coat, black paints, striped shirt and tie. The sculpt and detail of the figure are very well done and really shine with the nice paint apps. The one thing that I did notice is that the left hand is still not an open sculpt so that you still have to thread the chainsaw handle through his hand like the previous release. I do wish they would have changed it but I am used to it with the previous figure so it isn’t as big a deal for me this time around. The head sculpt is one of the best in this line and the paint apps are nicely done but not overdone, just a perfect amount.

All in all I would say this is one of their better figures in this line but not the best so far. I would have to give him a 7 human filets out of 10. This figure would still make a great addition to any collection and is worth it to pick up. If you would like to get more information on the figure or see what other products NECA have to offer head on over to NECAonline.com. This figure is sold on a few online vendor’s sites and also in some brick and mortar stores like Toys "R" Us.
