Released in 1983, Cover Girl is Specialist Courtney A. Krieger, a G.I. Joe tank driver, mechanic and former High-Fashion model. She is known primarily for driving the G.I. Joe multi-missile ground assault tank known as the Wolverine – which looks incredibly cool, but you have to admit that should the Wolverine ever fire any one of its missiles, Cover Girl would be barbecued alive.
This model turned grease-monkey’s blister card states that “Cover Girl finds that she must work against her beauty to prove herself. She's compelled to learn and master decidedly unfeminine disciplines. Her self-assurance and stunning good looks reduce most men to stuttering fools.”
Cover Girl comes with far more than five points of articulation. She comes with the ball jointed elbows - which are not that far removed from the elbows used in today’s figures – and single direction knees and elbows. Cover-Girl was also among the first figures to receive the Hasbro “Swivel Arm Battle Grip” that allows her to swivel her arms – an improvement that was introduced by Hasbro to the G.I. Joes in 1983.
The price of a complete 1983 G.I. Joe Wolverine and Cover Girl set varies depending upon the completeness and condition of the set - the Wolverine was notorious for losing its very fragile tow-cable. GIJoePriceguide.com puts it between $12 USD for a loose complete set, to $60 USD for a complete Mint-in-Box set, which frankly sounds kinda low.
