The Abominable Snow Cone - A Preview

From Texas-based artist Jason Limon comes one of the the most exciting figures of 2015. Alongside Martian Toys is born a perfect collaboration. In a year that saw umpteen figures produced this is up there with some of the creations by, say, Doktor A, Scott Tolleson and even the formidable Kozik. This brightly colored tasty-treat-come-to-life is both brilliantly imaginative and unexpected, a combo that is rarely seen these days. And perfectly timed, for the Halloween season!

SYRUPY SWEET!: The packaging looks like a weird combination of a creature feature b-movie and the frozen confection section at your local grocer. And the 7 1/4" figure comes with an ice cream truck accessory (2") and a separate spoon (was so glad to hear this was not part of the sculpt! Forget about Godzilla or Stay-Puft, there's a new domestic terror in town and he's melting all over your Mercedes!

From back to front the preview images seem to be extremely attentive to detail! It's a matter of "taste" but I'm initially partial to the cherry monster flavor, seems more classic and tart. Though the blueberry option is a gorgeous icy color that will satisfy many in need of a sweet figugure fix. Available, officially, on October 30th, The Abominable Snow Cone (from Limon's series "The Cryptidbits") made his debut at this year's New York Comic Con. We are thrilled to see Limon's smart conception come to life as a "50 Foot snowcone"!

The ice cream truck itself brings back childhood memories, many can remember the jingle-jangle of the truck's siren call as it roams through the neighborhoods of the world. The figure is housed in a colorful box with a blister pack for safe travel, so he won't melt away to bits. Oh, and the figure set is also separately being paired with additional prints as well (as shown below, if you choose). More information can be found here.

The artist and his innovative creation will be on the road (maybe they are traveling/vending out of the side of a similar truck?!!!!!!) and can be seen at Kidrobot/Woot Bear in San Francisco on October 30 or at Designer Con in Pasadena on November 21-22. Here's one last set of profile shots for you to decide if you want to consider pre-ordering to add this guy(s) to your top shelf of special figures! Just from the outset this is gearing up to be one of of top picks of the year....but we still have to get our paws on one to review in full-color detail!
