Brick to the Future: Forging Custom Needs of your Marty & More
If LEGO doesn’t have it, why not create it? BrickForge, an innovative intermediary between the LEGO user community and The LEGO Group has answered that call by offering unique customization services for the past twenty years. It addresses a booboo that others call boring minifigures by creating distinct and original accessories and print works. BrickForge’s range of paraphernalia spans many themes and includes popular gears such as helmets, body armor, bladed weaponry, firearms, and even scooters and animals – all for enhancing a better presence impact and playability of minifigs.
To launch and produce a certain custom design, BrickForge creates a proposed look by way of CAD machine, and displays it online. A certain proposal must generate support and pledges from fans. This support will then translate into funding which is crucial to the production of the custom model, which requires tooling, plastic injection, and initial screen printing costs.
One of the most exciting themes currently gunning to be BrickForged is the Back to the Future, a popular LEGO Ideas/CUUSOO release. Tagged as “Brick to the Future,” BrickForge designers have laid out a more detailed and exciting customization of the rather plain accessories released by LEGO through its DeLorean time machine set.
Its goal is to reach a pledge of $20,000 from its fans. With 12 days to go before production decision deadline, it has now reached three-fourths of that amount and counting. Among its proposed customs for the set are its anti-gravity board, skateboard, and bodily accessories. Finer details and prints are proposed to make Marty look better and authentic as he travels through time.
To make it even more exciting to the fans, certain add-ons that feature more original accessories will be unlocked and become available as soon as the minimum pledge is reached. These unlocked items shall then be produced and available for purchase. BrickForge has definitely set the bar to a different level in terms of LEGO’s creative use. Collectors will experience a new dimension as they enjoy their enriched minifigs and sets, thanks to the limitless possibilities of out-of-the-box design and imagination (pun intended). That’s giving more power to your brick without really cloning anything, right?
