This week I decided to go all botty and preview 3A Toys Transformers Starscream Bamba Exclusive figure. This Premium Scale Collectible Figure stands a staggering 16" tall and is fully poseable with 75+ points of articulation, even including articulated fingers. I love the fact that the hands are articulated because it makes it so much more fun when you grab a weapon and can actually grip it without coming loose from the fingers.
The sculpt and paint application on this behemoth is super detailed and ultra realistic. He looks like he's made of heavy metal and seen many battles. This is highlighted by the very detailed weathering effect paint job. Starscream's head have been painted in fine detail also, highlighting his robot side with an emotionless face and light up LED eyes.
The fun doesn't stop there folks. This figure when shipped will also include two interchangeable arms. The missile cluster arm will feature multiple green missiles at the ready to fire upon enemies. This arm will also feature two large prongs used to dig into the mechanical innards on an opponent. The second interchangeable sawblade arm will feature a sawblade of course, which I do believe we all know what it's used for.
The best thing about the design of this figure is the face, since you have all this detail. You get to see wires and cable stretching, as well as highlighted engines and joints attached by giant bolts, like a machine would have. The designer also highlighted the cockpit smack dab in the middle of the body, like a frontal chest plate. Every detail is there in the design, and is flawless.
One thing I would want to point out though is the fact that these figures are four times the price of Hasbro platinum series Transformers. You can see the difference in construction and paint compared to Hasbro's figures. I'm sure 3AToys also have way more articulation than the Hasbro figures too. I doubt that you'd be taking this one out to let your nephew play around with though. Yes you can see the difference in costs, but would you be happy saving up for this figure, or buying multiple cheaper figures and having money leftover? In closing this is an amazing figure, well constructed and designed (I love the LED eyes concept). I do wish they would have included the AG13 X 2 Button Cell batteries, since the batteries aren't included. I also wish that it was more affordable to common collectors, but I understand why it is priced as it is. This is set for release in the third quarter of 2016 - keep your eyes peeled! This is Canadian Chris wishing you all a happy soon-to-be New Year, EH!!!
