From Italy comes Unpoliteartmachine Labadanzky and Goodleg Toys with Mecha Saur, one part robot, one part dinosaur and all kick ass. Mecha Saur stands 28 centimetres tall, has 7 points of articulation and is hand painted. The Dino comes from Goodleg Toy's Battle Saurs toyline.
A little background on Unpoliteartmachine Labadanzky. He is responsible for some very cool works of robot art such as C4RL-0 Nuclear companion robot. Standing 30 centimeters tall this fully articulated, handmade, hand painted robot sports an LED eye. As with many of Unpoliteartmachine Labadanzky's works this robot is made from 100% recycled material. there is a whole line of Companion Robots, which is a very good thing. We checked in with them to get more insight:
"Hello...it actually is a collaboration between the German company goodleg toys and us (labadanzky u.a.m.). The original toy was designed by Luke toywalker (Lucas Rellecke from Goodleg toys); based on vintage kaiju figures. Then they shipped it to us, letting our talented artist Giulio Biazzi (from Labadanzky u.a.m.) work on the customization, using mostly PVC parts modeled by himself or took from other ready made objects. Now this very prototype is traveling back to Germany to integrate some more details and adjustments and to finally see if it can go to mass production process."
A few other works to mention are Unpoliteartmachine Labadanzky's collaboration with the Natural History Museum Giacomo Doria and Palazzo Ducale (Genoa) aracnomachia project, which highlights Robot Arachnids made from recycled material and different artists. I've feature one of Labadanzky's Aracnomachia robots that is articulated through the roof!
Since this Mecha Saur is a collaboration between Goodleg Toys, I figured I'd share a few of their creations too. First up we have the Mutant Bastards line, namely Sergio Sturgen and Captain Crab. Sergio is an action figure in the line of He-Man type figures, He's also got a robotic arm and toilet plunger for a leg. The captain is one little resin blue badass with a beard too boot. This line of figures has imagination and style, they are really fun to look at and imagine on the high seas!
Next up from Goodleg Toys is their Turbo Kids line. These are a Kenner-type figure based on the Aussie movie of the same name. (If you haven't seen the movie do yourself a favor and check it out). There's very little articulation to speak of, but that doesn't mean these guys aren't great. No one else is going to make these figures in the near future and you can tell these guys were made from a place of admiration. All of the figures were hand painted with utmost care.
So putting these two designers together to come up with one Killer Mecha Saur was a no brainier. Just think about matching this guy up with Godzilla and or Gamera, he fits in perfectly. I for one am very excited to see what both these designers are going to be putting out in the near future. Who knows maybe a Mecha Squid?
Later Eh!!! And join us on Facebook.
