Bots + Monsters: Re-Animator by Monstarz

When I first discovered H.P. Lovecraft around the age of 13 one of his first stories that stuck with me was Herbert West in Reanimator. Our local pizza joint was right beside a video store(for those to young to remember look up video store), I would always pass by the poster for this movie called Re-Animator, I never really paid it much attention. Finally one day I stopped to read the text on the poster and I realized it was the story of Herbert West. I automatically seeked this movie out. To my surprise Dr. Herbert West played by Jeffery Combs was pretty close to what I envisioned him from the H.P Lovecraft story (give or take a couple 100 years). In short the movie the re-animator is about a student at a medical college and his girlfriend who become involved in bizarre experiments centering around the re-animation of dead tissue when an odd new student arrives on campus.

This brings us to Monstarz Re-animator figure of Herbert West. If the company Monstarz sounds familiar you may recall they released a truly cool Critters figure. And Amok Time has them. The figure was a great reproduction of a crite, with fuzzy hair and great box art. They've done some other very cool properties such as Killer Klowns from Outer Space, 12" Night of the Living Dead Barbara and Dead Ben, The Day the Earth Stood Still Gort and Klaatu retro action figure 2 pack and a 1/6 scale Blackula. One thing I'm really loving about Monstarz as a company is the fact they are going out and releasing some different movie properties. I actually count the days until they announce another different figure, that nobody has really touched on.

Herbert West by Monstarz is 3.75" scale, 9 points of articulation (Neck, Shoulders, Elbows, Left forearm, Waist and Hips) and is a retro style action figure. The paint from what the pictures show are very well done, in line with say, Funko ReAction figures. Herbert's accessories include a vile of reanimation serum and a Reanimated head (without body). The card packaging for this is beautiful. It shows you everything you'll be getting in the figure and if you decide to watch the movie. There is supposed to be a deluxe 6-7" scale Re-Animator figure coming out as well, but as for now Monstarz comment on this is "simply put, we are still working on it".

You never quite know what Monstarz is going do next, but one thing is for sure, it'll be something new and exciting. You will always get quality with their releases and they won't rush things out for a profit, as you can see with the delay in the 6-7" scale Re-Animator figure. I see very good things in the future from Monstarz and I say bring it on!

Later Eh!
