gofigurenews Seeks New Publisher

As the Founder/Publisher and sometimes Editor of gofigurenews.com I am so thankful to our readers -- and proud of the daily operations of our lil' geek pop culture web magazine. But there is a transition in the air....

After developing and launching the site two years ago many things have changed and shifted in that time. As an independent community-based site we featured nearly sixty freelance, pro-bono contributors sans advertising. We tried to raise revenue and awareness with our webshop, and a few affiliates, though we pretty much stuck to a "for the love of it" attitude.

As a working studio artist with a looming museum retrospective next year we seek acquisition by a new Publisher/Partner to headline the site into the future. Now that the creative energy floweth, it's high time to refocus. We have initially reached out to a small handful of like-minded web entrepreneurs in the www-o-sphere in hopes to secure a likely candidate/s to take the torch we lit back in 2014.

There are too many people to thank for the success of our site and social media, but a few who truly helped us make waves and headlines include our current roster of contributors with special thanks to Chris Hammond (Ontario, CA) and Lennon George (Ohio). In particular I want to thank the dual Dans: Dan Berry (California) and Dan Reynolds (Virginia) for offering their savvy editorial ways, as well as Michael Paul (Louisiana) and Richard Greeson (Indiana) who helped out in the various interim/s. They each gave their time, their expertise, and knowledge, selflessly.

In the past 24 months we have conducted Behind The Figure, our popular interview series with leading artists and toymakers (Frank Kozik, Jason Freeny, Luke Chueh, Sket-One, many others), launched Coffee & Collectibles (Hangouts on Air), offered our collaborative annual Attack of the Mystery Boxes (Best of Monthly Geek Sub Boxes), as well as our regular and daily previews, news, reviews, contests and so much more. We are thrilled to have reached 154 countries with our exclusive content. This content has been curated via various geek-related pop culture (films, games, tv, comics, art) and streamlined with our focus on everything -- to the nth degree -- on the "figure": designer toys and action figures, to meet the needs of avid collectors. They let us know what they craved, and we built a place on the web for it. A site that has become an open, critical forum considering ideas and attitudes in/outside of the box, and off-the-cuff.

We have presented features on nearly every brand you have played with including: NECA, Mezco, Bandai/Namco, DC Collectibles, Diamond Select Toys, McFarlane, Mattel, threezero, Funko, Kidrobot, Vinylmation, Sideshow Collectibles, and many more independent makers like Munky King, Martian Toys, Gecco, 3D Retro, Bigshot Toyworks and Go Hero to name a few (including bootlegs and customizers). Hopefully this will only be the beginning of something much bigger into the future. We are excited and proud to have brought together so many like-minded people to follow our nascent social media on Facebook, et al. And we are only excited for what's in store for our faithful readers.

If you, or someone you know might be a good fit to either consider yourself in a publishing or ownership role in this upcoming acquisition please let us know. This will go public in early July, so as transparent as we claim to be witty, we thought it was essential to let you know. We continue to thank you for your feedback and general camaraderie. :)
