A Clockwork Orange Reborn

THIS CLOCK IS TICKING: Medicom toys will be releasing an Alex Real Action Heroes (RAH) 1:6 Scale Figure from A Clockwork Orange. This guy will be due out March 2017.

As you can see it's Alex in all his ultraviolent glory. He comes with such accessories as a cane, knife, mask and a glass of milk. This very articulated gentleman wears an all white suit with matching white cod piece, black bolo hat and bloody eye cuff links. There's a great likeness in the facial PVC sculpt to a young Malcolm McDowell, which is a good thing (especially since that's what they were going for). Oh yeah the hat is removable and Alex's eyes can move. All this is priced at 28,944 Yen (about $274 USD). The details are so superfine, down to the mother of pearl buttons!

LIKE CLOCKWORK: Now, mind you, this character has been attempted in the past by toymakers in very limited quality and/or success. Funko put out one of the very earliest Pop! figures which was released in a quantity rumored to be under a dozen. One of these rare figures sold on the auction block recently for over $12K! And we have heard (again just conjecture) that they just may be finally releasing a figure for the masses (likely a different sculpt, paint job). We'll see.

BEETHOVEN RULES: There have been many glorious renditions of Alex DeLarge through the years, both by customizers and licensees. From the dystopian Anthony Burgess novel which Stanley Kubrick brought new meaning to in his 1971 film, the result was a combo of pure delight and horror for viewers throughout the decades since. Always one of his most controversial cult classics, we don't expect an onslaught of products like you may witness in other market franchises. Here's a look at some of the more outstanding examples through the years.
