Review: Batsy Arrived from Romania

Oasim Karmieh the Romanian 3d sculptor who got the inspiration for his latest piece from his daughter (Emma Rose), finally releases his very limited (edition of 10) BATSY line on the world. Batsy comes packaged expertly in a large white box with Batsy logos on it. Once you crack it open you may see a few lines written on the box from other Batman stars such as Harley Quinn and the Joker. This is a very nice touch and shows you how much Oasim pours into all his works.

The first thing I noticed when taking Batsy out of the box is, his 8" tall size and weight. This piece of art is way more than I expected it to be and you need to truly see it up close and personal to just get exactly how big Batsy is. Once out of the box it takes minutes to get Batsy set-up. He comes complete with wooden base stand, and packages that fit onto his utility belt (more on this after). One thing you must be careful of when setting up the figure is to make sure his piece attached to the base is secure in the slot provided behind the cape. The last thing you'd want is Batsy to come crashing down. Also included in the box are Batsy instructions (which give you a pretty straight forward idea, I feel as if these are Joker-ish in feel).

You also get an Artist-proof Authentication certificate, signed and dated by year from Karmieh Industries (Karmieh's company). There's a set of Karmieh and Batsy logos in both sticker and car decals. Lastly there's a 30% off lifetime discount on Batsy-Clique items (upcoming toys).

"It means a great deal to me, I’m huge Batman fan obviously! and I designed Batsy when I became a dad, My baby girl’s her cute hands and proportions inspired the shape of Batsy." - Oasim Karmieh

Lets get to the figure itself, its everything you'd want it to be and more. This 3d designed item is made by an artist for artists, there were no cutting corners, as Oasim pointed out to me. It really shows how much he truly cares about his creation by the way it's designed. The large black Batsy cape is made of hard plastic, which gives you the confidence that you can bang it on something and not have it break. Batsy's head is heavy and so well designed and painted, this is probably my favorite part of the whole figure. This is where the figure shows it's personality. It's sweet smile and chubby cheeks just make you adore it that much more. I really feel this could become a whole Batsy line unto itself. Just think about having Batsy and a cute little Joker sitting on the shelve getting along and playing. There's also a binkie mocked-up in Joker paint, which fits in Batsy's mouth....Does this mean we may see the Joker soon?

If there's one thing I might change, it would be the way the packages fit unto the utility belt. I had a hard time getting mine to stay in the holes provided and ended up gluing them in place. Maybe a few small magnet to magnets would remedy this small problem.

In closing Batsy is something to cherish, it provides much more imagination and thought then just another Batman Funko pop figure. It's made by a man who has a great deal of love for his daughter, and is a lifelong Batman fan. I feel he's done something with this figure that can have mass appeal. I would love to see a whole line of these figures invade the world. Maybe as the line progresses, the figure will include articulation, but for now we have one of the best artists taking care of the Batman mythos. I'm excited to see what's next from Oasim as I hope you all are too.

P.S. Be on the lookout for more BATSY's as this line sold out very fast. If you want to learn more checkout his site here and on Facebook.
