DON'T PUT YOUR XMAS LIGHTS UP, YET! OK, so we already are pre-disposed to our love of the Netflix series, and we were obviously over-excited when we posted this "picture show" which included a slew of glorious artist renderings of toys and other things that go bump in the night. But we never expected an almost immediate follow-up from the amazing minds over at A Large Evil Corporation (did you see our interview with them back in March?). It's exciting to see these even greater nuanced figures, especially practical walk-ons like the female agent who experiencing a lil' red eye ;)
EVIL CORP. It's also great to see 'Eleven' in the submersion tank suit - it's a stand out, as is the memorable character. The series blends the essence of films like Altered States with the Goonies with a hint of Halloween. It's also got some in common with contemporary films like the amazingly effective Under The Skin starring Scarlett Johansson (check out the screenshots we culled).
Sensory Deprivation For Collectors: We are unsure if these will see the light of day on the consumer market (we sincerely doubt it), but we are most certainly faithful followers of what this UK-based group is doing with these (and many other) beloved characters in the pop culture thunderdome. The tease is glorious in and of itself. These are likely dubbed "fan art" rather than making it to market - but we cannot overlook their influence on one of their clients, Funko, who on the heels of this are releasing their own Pop version (at least we've spied "11" so far). We enjoy what these folks do across the pond a whole heck of a lot more than the large toy producer. Stranger Things, indeed. Have a look-see....
