K.Jun Gets Up Close n Personal


If you look really, really close you can find Korean artist and customizer K.Jun on Facebook. He's the man behind many faces becoming more familiar after his delicate touch. He somehow can take a few freckles and teeny splatters to a super-real place in his studio. He has managed to make Travis Bickle and Patrick Bateman even slightly more sinister, taken various characters portrayed by Tom Hanks and added wildly imaginative accessories, spot-on hair creations and superior deft of hand paint artistry. I'm floored by some of his headsculpts, sometimes collaborating with a few others, that take originals much further, and it's all about hyper-realism over here. Here are a quick few comparisons:

Besides for the notch of intensity in expressions K.Jun explores the dark and gritty end of the Hollywood cult classics. Along with the 'just-so' aesthetic and fine-tuned blood spatter he somehow manages to at times infuse subtle humor as well. Whether its a scene not previously captured by other one sixth scale makers like DAM Toys or Hot Toys he manages to incorporate often overlooked fine detail that even the most stickler of collectors will find enticing and intelligent.
