The Stair Monsta is one of the cast of bizarre creatures that star in the stop-motion animation feature I'm Scared (directed by Pete Levin) alongside Ralf (an 8 year old insomniac). Perfect for the season.....The characters and figure were designed by painter Greg "Craola" Simkins and was produced by our friends over at 3D Retro. The sleek vinyl figure was just recently officially released as part of the film premiere and they hosted an opening party with lots of fun frills.
I'm Scared: The Midnight colorway is what we are reviewing here (below), and it's a noir black on black piece that is something between a toy and sculpture, and I must say it really is quite nice. It makes references to science gone wrong, Disney ever so subtly and other things that go morph in the night. We caught it from many angles and provide all the deets here:
We were really fortunate to receive a signed copy of this truly fantastic new figure. If I had to give it a rating out of ten I'd throw up a 8.5/10. It's close to perfection. And more on the gnarly than cute side of the spectrum. GET ONE. Spook yourself right tonight!
