A Trio Of Mondo MARVELous Soundtracks

Unless you've been hiding under a meteor-sized boulder for the last few years you have likely heard (key word here) about Netflix's amazingly dynamic and diverse series of intertwined characters from Marvel Comics. Each character has their own heroic qualities and human core -- each story is told with a keen, contemporary style. Speaking of contemporary, one of the things that makes such great cable/subscription programming dynamic is the original score, sometimes so subtle and ethereal, sometimes proudly in-yer-face, and you will get a little of all the above, and some 'tween in this gorgeous forthcoming collection of releases from Austin's Mondo! Matthew Woodson is the mastermind behind the phenomenal graphic layouts here. These are each pressed to 180 Gram wax, in color coordinated packaging, and limited to 3000 copies each. White hot!

John Paesano contributes the score to the epicenter of the series, and the darkest overall (talk about eye-popping graphic fight scenes), Daredevil. This has to be one of the best (anti) superhero dramas of all time. Of the trio of releases, this is the only one that has two seasons under its belt, and its summed up on a single LP. The composer's style is in the classic genre of cinematic noir.

Sean Callery has produced a number of television soundtracks, including this bright jazzy collection that took home an Emmy® Award this year! Jessica Jones brings perseverance and the female perspective to the overall offering. It's a combination of grit, and urban rhythms and we love it when the cover opens to reveal Jessica's arch nemesis.

Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest) have us wrapt. This is likely the tipping point in the series so far, in terms of only making a good thing even better. The duo have infused the series with a sensitive mix of classic and contemporary hip-hop atmospherics. Here the Luke Cage soundtrack is not shy to take on a starring role in moments where the bulletproof lead takes charge. In a stunning warm yellow set.
