Building A Go-Team

Simply Nerdana: As we are well into our third year in virtual print we thought it was a good opportunity to reach further into the community. We want you to be part of us. Did you know that we reach an audience in over 150 countries! We love the fact that independent toymaking is truly universal! And because we are passionate, we are perfectly OK with using multiple exclamation points!!! But every one of those counts for something - and we want YOU to share in the overall experience and growth of who Go Figure News is into the future. After all we have a new shiny mascot, the Go-Bot, who wants to travel into unknown terrain as well as more exciting announcements to come soon.

GOT THANKS? We have something seriously fun in common, go figure! Some call these figures art, others call them toys or designer vinyl, soft toys, carded figures, sofubi, resin, custom toys, bootlegs, or even urban toys. Licensed or not, there's lots of slang (we have developed a communal language) - and that's where your voice can help craft the black and white about our still mostly fringe community. Mind you, there are likely a million of us out there, not counting the casual collector, but not excluding them either. We are inclusive, with a critical eye for what works and what could use a nudge to perhaps improve the next colorway or series based figure.

Go Figure News is an independent online magazine in a daily format. Our writers contribute when they can (daily, weekly, monthly) in either column-based form or one-off pieces as you see fit. Pitch us your idea. We will help you launch your ideas about the toy industry. We strive to locate new international, freelance voices that are truly unique. Our contributors bring their own style, writing and producing evocative video pieces from their personal experience. We are not interested in talking heads that are overly pre-scripted - we'd rather offer a raw and real sensibility. We continuously strive to offer something that will, in turn, challenge our readers and get them involved, participatory and engrossed in original content. Afterall our readers are pretty much like us, people with varying tastes but give value to intelligent and toymaking with conceptual breadth. What's more, GOFN offers a platform for first-time writers, as well as pros, to try their hand at something a little different and more fun than your average war story. If you have a passion for collecting you would fit in here. We want people who share their expertise with a like-minded audience that craves a true point-of-view.

We are looking for brave, creative souls to join our community. Seeking writers and videomakers, designers, social networking folks, and people behind-the-scenes to join us. Everyone here contributes on a pro-bonus (unpaid) basis. Though you can make your own way in the scene by attending conventions and representing us, communicating on a regular basis with like-minded collectors, publishing your take on geek pop culture, reviewing the latest figures that strikes your fancy or makes you say, "hmmmmm". Also, for those advantageous enough working in the field will get you to meet with the people who make all this happen, commandeer interviews, toy previews and news before it hits the streets. We love a good scoop! Our columnists develop exclusive content and are given credit (and sometimes effusive job recommendations).

Have Fun Out Loud: We are a little like the boy band Menudo, always changing, always growing, evolving. And you can be one of us. Do you collect, do you write, do you make fun/ny videos? Well, you might be a perfect fit for us.

For Collectors, By Collectors: That's our core value, we are interested in promoting the overall collector and independent toymaker culture. Perhaps you make unique resin works yourself - this could open some new doors. And because we exist online we have no walls, you can contribute from your own home in Geneva in your underwear, or under the paper lanterns in downtown Kyoto. Our demographic is most definitely international. Our contributors create the news, and deliver p/reviews, interviews (see our series) and all sorts of mishegas that gets us trending worldwide. We are a daily site with 10-25K hits monthly (depends on convention season). We have a really nice presence on Facebook and YouTube (and could really use a keypoint person to realign us with other social media). Check us out and then we'd love to check you out!

The Fun Is Not All Reading & Writing: If you want to get involved in our community of fun folk and do not necessarily want to write or make awesome short videos, we are always looking to grow our social networking team, as well as others behind-the-scenes who help us recruit some new and talented folks like yourself. We are looking for good people who are motivated, agitated and otherwise not constipated. Peace.

#GOFN for fun
