DesignerCon 2016 - A Primer

KEEP IT INDEPENDENT: The time has come for the very next toy convention. But Designer Con is far from your average toy show and this year they will have more vendors and artists than ever before. gofigurenews.com is happy to announce that we will have one of our very favorite correspondents right down on the floor (and a phenomenal comedian), Mr. SalvadorLosAngeles. The con will be wide-ranging and chock full with designer toys in vinyl, resin, wood, 3D printed objet d’art, enamel pins and prints and posters galore! Sal will be reporting from Pasadena’s Convention Center. We look forward to seeing his photos and video footage of the event. This year artists Jon-Paul Kaiser, Jermaine Rogers, Alex Pardee, Leecifer, Martin Hsu, the Sucklord, Playful Gorilla, Paul Kaiju, Alex Solis, Amanda Louise Spayd/Chris Ryniak, Special Ed Toys, Naomi Knaff, Kano, Buzzard Guts, Joe Ledbetter, Bwana Spoons, Juan Muniz, Huck Gee, Tara McPherson, Dolly Oblong, Touma, Paul Frank and several others Will be under one roof together. These folks represent a wide ranging bastion of talent. A CAVALCADE OF FUN STUFF: Along with these artists there will be several vendors who each bring their own special merchandise under the big top. Expect to see Munky King, 1000Toys, DKE Toys, Bigshot Toyworks, Martian Toys, Disburst, Kidrobot, and Super7 among handfuls of others. Here you will find tons of exclusive items that often are in limited editions and colorways you'll only find here. We continue to share some of these with you on our Facebook page and right here on gofigurenews.com. So if you're paying attention you realize that many of these special offerings will come and go quickly. This particular convention is earmarked almost primarily for independent toymakers, spearheaded by Ben Goretsky of 3Dretro. A tip of the hat to him and his team. The talent is international, there will be signings and special events as well as panels, a live DJ (Z-Trip) and a party. You can still get tickets at designercon.com. The master of ceremonies is Mark Brickey, he is the host of Adventures in Design, a daily talkshow. Design powerhouse Mishka is collaborating with DCon this year on clothing and accessories to commemorate the party. A VIP pass will get you in to all the events across the street at The Rose. EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED: The events take place on November 19th + 20th. A one day pass is a completely reasonable 10 bucks or you can take in the entire weekend for only $15 — but wait you can also get into the VIP party which will include the entire weekend as well with a VIP pass for only $25. This is by far the best deal to be had in the toy convention world. Check out our recent coverage on the con as well as our Facebook scrapbook of special exclusives to expect. And watch for Sal our roaming reporter! In the meantime check out designercon.com and we'll see you there!
