So exciting to see this retro toy explosion over the last few years, celebrating the 60s through the 90s all over again! Now here comes LEGO bringing back The Beatles to center stage. The last (memorable) time was with the phenomenal pieces from McFarlane, and that was nearly two decades ago my fair people! From the still hip and psychedelic animated film and album, Yellow Submarine, a building kit emerges. It's John, Paul, George and Ringo in their most vivid regalia ever.
From the company site: "Build this LEGO version of the iconic Yellow Submarine from the famous 1968 film, and journey back to Pepperland with the Fab Four! The submarine features a removable top for easy play, a cockpit that accommodates the included John, Paul, George and Ringo minifigures, two rotating propellers, four periscopes, an adjustable rudder, plus assorted accessory elements that The Beatles have collected on their journey. The set also includes a Jeremy figure. An ideal gift for fans of LEGO and The Beatles, it’s great for role-play or to create a colorful retro display."
This evolved from the LEGO Ideas site where over 10,000 votes were cast to see this become a reality. And the toy giant responded in kind and we are so thrilled they did. Get one now ($55).
The set comes with a telescope, 'Love' tile, 'half a hole', a motor, and an apple. The sub itself has several moving parts including its propellers and periscopes. This is a perfect holiday or anytime toy for kids (and big kids like me). Expect to see this under a few thousand trees this holiday season! And a few alternative versions have been floating out there as well...
