SCI-FI SILVER: Just arriving from Japan's Gecco is Ultraman (Shinjiro Hiyata) and he's sleek, bold and in a full metal jacket (and then some). He's now officially been saving earthlings from kaiju for a very long time! This 1:6 Scale Statue is one of the better we have seen all year and we couldn't be happier to bring it to you in our video review (below). Standing tall in his iconic reinforced suit he stands upon a nicely realized stone step base the silver and red 1966 Manga favorite is modernized but with the nod of original writer and artists on the series, Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi. The suit, itself, has some hard and some soft material features and other surprises. The release of this figure coincides with the latest incarnation of Ultraman (2016) which celebrates fifty years on celluloid, check out the trailer here. And now, get ready, sit back and check this out:
AND THE LIGHTS WENT ON! We apologize for our over-excitement and not showing off the cool LED effects in our video, but here are some outtakes we shot. Rest assured, he will light up your life in other ways. We do demonstrate the battery portion of the back console in our video and sometime later today/tomorrow expect to see a few additional images of what the effect looks like as the figure came with batteries pre-installed.
BEYOND THE 40th GALAXY: The is 'Light Giant (The Ultraman)' and he comes with two swappable heads (human and silver armor) as well as two arms (w/Spacium Blades) and an additional hand. There are zero points of articulation, unless you consider the additional change-out parts to be thus. One of his hands can be posed to hold the masked head sculpt if you like. The sculpt is epic and the paint is truly flawless, the steely look is dead on. This ABS and PVC figure was originally released in May of this year but only became available int he US in late July. Ultraman is priced at retail for $299. Worth every last red cent.
