LIGHTS, CAMERA, TOY-GEEKERY! Some of us toy whisperers out here really love the extended drama that vinyl, resin and other fanciful creations bestow upon our lives. It's exciting to see something new from a few familiar faces in the crowd. On January 17 Toy Geeks (site's up!) will launch with their first weekly video expected to cover new releases, exclusives and general toy talk from Ben Goretsky (owner of 3D Retro, founder of Designer Con, and nice guy), George Gaspar (co-host of the long-running Toy Break, and artist/owner of October Toys) and the artful Jack Venturo (toy diorama builder, customizer, and featured on our "Behind The Figure" series). Here's a lil' more about the hosts. The initial trio are featured in this cool teaser clip to whet your appetite.
Keeping the condensed masses entertained is no small task, and we are thrilled to see these seasoned fellas take the reign. Having had a most wonderful visit to Ben's shop (Glendale, CA) just a few month's back it looks as though it might be filming there. It is the same location where they filmed (are filming from time to time) Mark Hamill's @PopCultureQuest - the man dives deep with such humor - into the geek-o-sphere with lost abandon. The cozy, chock-full o' colorful toy bobbles atmosphere of the shop draws any serious collector in instantly. So location, location, location! We will be watching!
.....Speaking of toy locations, GOFN's next stop is a visit to Rotofugi later this week while visiting Chicago!
Chester says: "See you all soon"!.....
