Faded Away

FADE AWAY + RADIANT: I recently acquired the Fade Full Moon, the Fade variant from Coarse and Everyday Mooonday. This was an exclusive release at the exhibit: past/present. This Coarse exhibit is located in Seoul, Korea (Songpadong Songpagu). Some of the pieces here were from Rotofugi's show: cold ways, nights that haunt the past.

The artists of Coarse are Mark Landwehr and Sven Waschk, they are two Germans who have been making figures since 2003. Coarse pieces are special to many as they easily describe many types of emotions and how they are formed. They also have a very good quality control team which shows in their high-end materials and packaging. Lacking the deepest imperfection, these pieces with many of their hard edges and forms convey strong emotions.

Which brings me to this piece; Fade-full moon in an edition of 100. This newest colorway has both the best quality in the build and uses the packaging from the myplasticheart previous ignited release. Based on the Coarse character Omen, a sad hunched over owl is portrayed. With a simple bag that this figure resides in, full moon stands 7" tall and has a new chalky pink color. This is a new colorway from previous omens. The eyes are a gloss white with a smooth purple underneath. This figure is the 6th colorway to this series. The first two versions were actually the first figures I bought from their official site.

KEEP FADED MEMORIES ALIVE:: I knew this series was a tribute piece to the late Roman "AlPred" Shevchenko, a friend of Coarse and to many, but I did not know who he truly was. So I did some digging to understand this individual. Roman was a collector and photographer. He had a huge collection and valued all the pieces he owned. He would find scenes that figures would fit into in order to sway thoughts and emotion, or to create a story. The fade piece depicted a sad Omen (Coarse's owl) because of the loss of Roman, all of the profit for these pieces went to Roman's family. Some friends and family are even working on book to pay tribute to him and to show his pictures and vast collection. This book is entitled Roman Shevchenko, My Toys. You can see many of his pictures on his instagram.

I am sad that I never was able to know this man, this amazing tribute piece will forever help us remember him. His name will never fade.
