SIMPLY STANLEY: Last year artist and animator Steven Cartoccio released his first resin figure, a riff on a classic Marvel comic character, Frankpool. His truly unique animated animal series took off with a ka-pow in the designer toys arena thanks to his Concrete Jungle Studios and these pop statues with a twist. The follow-up here today is Stanley, a leopard in a "Wolverine's" clothes ;) Talk about changing his spots! His name likely a nod to the comic legend behind the scenes.
SNIKT! This is a perfect pairing with the previous figure, and despite that the box is modestly smaller the figure is perfectly compatible standing a tall 11.5" (2 inches taller than Frankpool) - and again with magnetic limbs as well as a swappable "unmasked" headsculpt that is absolutely wry and expertly crafted. Check out our full video review right here to see this winning figure from all it's masterful angles:
Grab Your Popcorn + He's Ready For His Close-Up - Run The Tape!
Unlike the earlier figure (still available btw) which was made in an edition of 100, this guy is limited to just, get this, 25! I got #21/25, so if you are into it, get on it ladies and gents. Oh, and unlike the previous figure, and due to the long and lithe design here, he thankfully comes with a pegged base. Both of these figures run a outrageously reasonable $145 - and there is said to be one final figure to complete the trio:
Markneto (Concrete Jungle Studios)
In anticipation of the full series, Concrete Jungle Studios announced that they will start pre-orders (which will come with an exclusive print!) for Markneto tomorrow! I hope you enjoy this look at one of our favorites, who also made many others' "Best Of" lists this past year. Our original review can be found here, as well as the associated video, and a blurb about the NYCC variant. To watch the goin's-on stay tuned to their Facebook page as well. Below are a few glam shots to whet your appetite, but, again, the "magic" occurs in the above video review, so tune in and turn on to your friendly toy whisperer. Thanks guys.
