ToyCon UK 2017: Wrap-Up & Picture Show

Hey everybody!!!

So, just back from Toycon UK with two full days of awesomeness (this past Saturday & Sunday). It was the first time they had a two-day show, and now it's all done! This time around, there seemed to be a fair few more artists than usual due to the artist tables available! There were a tonne of fun activities going on throughout, including Raffles, chances to find pieces hidden around the venue by artists (such as Czee13), some live painting of Tcons by RxSeven and Czee13, as well as some great toy creating workshops by Matt ‘Lunartik’ Jones!

Saturday started with a rush in the morning as the day was fully sold out and regulars came with plans in mind, then slightly slowing down as the day progressed. Sunday was then a steady stream of people, but there were many complete newcomers who knew nothing about the scene but were passing by, which in my opinion was super refreshing!!

#PINGAME: PINS Galore!

I think this year is definitely the year of the pins! Pins, pins, pins - everywhere! So many beautiful pins! Super cute pins by Dolly Oblong, funny punny pins by MadebyCooper & TattooDave, Martian Toys with an amazing array of pins by artists from Quiccs to Tomoodachi Island (& many more), lots of pins at Minty Fresh by Cream Lab and the list goes on! There were two custom shows: Customania by the Toychronicle, and the Martian Toys custom show of Baby Collosus by Tomoodachii Island (I had pieces in both shows!) so yeah!

Martian Toys is always brilliant, they are releasing new production pieces by Nicky Davis and other artists - with all the bits soon, really excited! Pickled Circus is 100% my fave, his work just spews brilliance, I believe he should have production toys asap. Turtlestudio.eu had these huge resin figs and they were INSANE! He had some customs done by some insanely talented artists too which were even more mind blowing (Toyterror, RunDMB and the like.

Javierjimenezdesign.com is creating some brilliant bits too - his characters are so unique and full of personality.

I'd also like to add Secret Underground Volcano Base - Ian Hancox & Wire_Wolf are two brilliant artists who put a lot of hard work into their pieces and 100% deserve more exposure! Ian Hancox being the king of scales and fur, just layers 100's of them perfectly and then Wire_Wolf who does natural looking character sculpts so brilliantly (loved his boxtrolls)!

Theres also Evan Morgan, he produced some resin kits, great resin caster and 3d-printer etc! Definitely a great place to go to get anything produced! Beasts of Balance was a cool game that works with the iPad that was there too, definitely worth checking out!

Finally, theres Jaykblu (Wink) that's me! With his almost 50 custom pieces, all one offs, that i didn't even get a chance to post, working on various bases, including kotobukiya figures & I was sharing a booth with Czee13 who is an awesome dude, super hard working and his work is very cool and original!

Remember to Vote GOFN for Best Blog 2017 (only 2 Day Remain!)

We had everything from good ‘ol customs, to crazy scratch sculpts, huge resin behemoths, 3d printed bits and resin kits! There were prints, paintings, furry fellas and sofubi too! The array and quality of work this year were amazing, & honestly I think the best thing to do is let all the pics speak for themselves! If you couldn’t come this year, be sure to come down next year! Now, sit back and enjoy this lil' picture show that I shot to share with all of you!
