Sunday Bloody Funday: Michael Myers Is Back!

Hey There Folks, Canadian Chris here in my new home. I'll be writing full time for Sunday, Bloody Funday starting now, So let's get this started off right.

Halloween is both my favorite time of year and favorite movie. Michael Myers is truly one of the best silent psychos to hit the big screen. When this John Carpenter masterpiece in horror history was released in 1978 I was just one year old. I didn't get to experience this until many years later. When I did I connected with it right away. I enjoyed the fact that Michael Myers was different from the wise cracking Freddy Krueger. I enjoyed the fact that he had a mission (at least it seemed that way). I also enjoyed the fact that he was Different, but similar to Jason Vorhees. Both Myers and Vorehees killed people with weapons, But for the most part Myers preferred a nice sharp knife to do his bidding. The other reason I enjoy the Halloween character is basically the fact he's doing all this killing with what was once a $2 Star Trek (1966) William Shatner mask painted white and with his hair puffed out and eye holes widened.

This first column is about an upcoming Myers statue release coming up very soon. The Michael Myers statute, which was originally announced in 2014 exclusively by HCG (Hollywood Collectibles Group) is said to be a 1:4 scale model and limited to 200 pieces worldwide. The amazingly detailed figure stands an amazing 21 and 3/4 inches tall with bloody knife in tow, ready for action. The fine attention to detail makes this psychotic killer feel as if he's just waiting for your back to turn.

The painting on the eyes are very eerie. viewing the statue at any angle makes it feel like the eyes are following you. Myers' mask has a very lifelike look to it as if it even comes with dirt scuffs and aged looking rubber. Myer's boots and stand have just the right amount of blood spatter on it to convince you he's not playing around. It is constructed from a heavyweight poly-stone material, This statue weighs in at an estimated 14 pounds (wow). The artistry of the paint job done on this piece makes it worth every penny of it's price tag.

The HCG Exclusive version also includes a matching double sided nameplate with “Halloween” on one side and “the night he came home” on the other! The price may seem hefty, but they have payment plans so don't fret.

For those who can't throw down a large chunk of money for this figure, there's no shortage of Michael Myers figures out there. You could always get a Funko ReAction figure release by Funko or even a Michael Myers bobblehead. NECA's 18 inch with sound is the closest in comparison to the upcoming HCG release (and probably about the same price now on Ebay and Amazon). HCG released a Leatherface Statue not too long ago, So now we just have to wait for Freddy Kruger and Jason Vorhees to join the party. The estimated release date for this Michael Myers Statue is/was second quarter of 2015, When we spoke with the company they assured us that it will ship in September, so watch for it next month!

Later folks and don't forget to have a Funday, Eh!!!
